MUSIC MONDAY NEWSLETTER
Date: Monday, October 18, 1999
Room 211, Valley Middle School, Arnold, PA
Purpose of Meeting:
1. Meet of the Team Players
2. Begin gathering of the Memorabilia
of Johnny Costa
3. Understand the goals of the Grant for this project
4. Initiate Action steps for the project
Who:
* Alex and Mini also presented a long-range possibilities paper which included what the completed Center might house.
* Juliet Drennan gave background on the grant. The scope of the grant is narrow and includes Johnny Costa and Arnold artists. We are to create 6 exhibits of Arnold Musicians to display the "History of How Music influenced Arnold." and they will be displayed at the following locations to involve the public: Arnold, New Kensington City Halls, New Ken, Lower Burrell Peoples Libraries, Penn State New Kensington, New Kensington Senior Citizens Center.
* Juliet explained that the Pennsylvania grant is a stepping stone to Heinz grants etc because it lends credibility to the project. The Performing Arts Center will include a much wider range of musicians from the Alle-Kiski Valley. So we are working on two different levels.
* Questions were raised about the logistics of the exhibit. Cost and safety
must be considered. Everyone liked the idea of a folding screen covered with
Plexiglas. Everyone also agreed that these displays need musical accompaniment.
Pat Condelli said she had experience with making and displaying boards with
her work with the Civic Theatre and said we could include a tape recorder
under the Plexiglas where you could push a button. A guest book should also
be included to keep names and addresses of potential donors.
