Items Discussed:

* Megan Pelican and Jessica Langer were in charge of today’s meeting.

* Jessica Langer gave a report of the student’s recent trip to the State Capitol, Harrisburg, and their visit with
State Representative Terry Van Horne and Dr. Brent Glass.

* Bernie Markwell, a star on KDKA-TV’s "Memory Time" in the 1940s and lead singer in the quartet, was
our special guest today. He told us “vintage” stories about Johnny Costa. He lives in Tarentum, Pennsylvania.

* Pat Condelli received a list from Ralph Phillips of all the Rotary clubs in Pennsylvania. We will use this list
to contact area Rotary clubs to perform with the Johnny Costa Showchoir and to promote and advertise
the Center.

* Buddy Lee, Secretary of the New Kensington Musical Society, brought in a 10- page list of “Hall of
Fame for the Arts” hopefuls. He named each artist, described their musical talent and listed addresses
and phone numbers. His excellent “memory research list” was the highlight of our Music Monday Meeting!
Thank you, Buddy Lee. You are so valuable to our Alle-Kiski musical research.

* Pat Condelli will meet with the Music Monday students on Monday, April 3, 2000 to create written
reports for johnnycosta.com, our Web site. It is truly a work of art and we are grateful to Hugh.

* Jessica Langer read a letter from Edward A Kirkwood, City Clerk of Lower Burrell, inviting us to
a meeting at City Hall on Wednesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. to discuss our Johnny Costa project. The
following students will attend: Jessica Langer, Sara Brestensky, Kellie Ylosvai, Megan Pelican and
others if they wish. In addition to a speech and display boards, we hope to have a song. (A discussion
followed about the uniqueness of the “Johnny Costa Song” and the need for all to know it).

* Pat Condelli and Buddy Lee will take students to WDUQ radio on Saturday, April 15. We are
preparing for this by each student writing a paragraph about their expertise. We will meet at
5:30 p.m. on April 15 in front of Valley Middle School.

* Alice Callahan, Rena Beroni, and Ann Ciciarelli will research the addresses and phone numbers
of the list of musicians Buddy Lee brought in today. Rena, p. 1, Alice, p. 2, Ann, p. 3. By next
Monday we hope to mail a letter and biography request to each artist on this list.

* No Music Monday Meetings in April. We’ll send you a postcard to let you know the next meeting.
KEEP A SONG IN YOUR HEART!
