Who: Debbie Elwood, Roger and Clare Nelson, Buddy Lee, Pat Condelli,
Ann Ciciarelli, Alice Callahan,

Items Discussed:
* Greg Baker was in charge of today’s meeting.
* Katie Couric mailed us a copy of a video of a recent visit of
Fred Rogers to her show. We played it for everyone
and are asking permission to use the brief segment where Katie talks about Johnny
Costa as Musical Director. We
mailed Katie a thank you note and also requested a two-minute video of her memories
of Johnny.
* Greg Baker presented a rough copy of documentary video which
Louis Palumbo and Mike Myers created with
Mr. Leonardi. It traces the Johnny Costa development, including student work,
city officials’ opinions, the building
in its “before” state as well as the beautiful music of Johnny Costa. Everyone
liked it, even in it’s rough state.
* A special thank you was given to Hedda Sharapan from Family
Communications, who phoned us this week with
the name of a documentary specialist who will help us polish our documentary.
His name is J.C. Smith and he is
presently very busy working on the PNC filming in downtown Pittsburgh. We are
very grateful for this help.
* Buddy Lee, Secretary of the New Kensington Musical Society,
mailed the Musicians endorsement of the Johnny
Costa Cultural Center to us this week. He is setting up a Saturday interview
with Len Hendry from the Big Band
Saturday evening show on WDUQ to give publicity to the Center. He also wrote
an entry for the Johnny Costa web site.
* Pat Condelli thanked Hugh Glenn for his excellent work in producing
our johnnycosta.com website. Hugh Glenn
adds a quality dimension that is truly exemplary. We are all very grateful for
his kindness in helping us with our project.
Pat asked everyone to sign the guest book. Pat also created publicity flyers
to send to the newspaper and shared them
with everyone. Until we decide on an official "name" for the center,
she will wait to mail this correspondence to the
newspaper.
* Jessica Langer wrote a letter which we mailed to Mayor Kinosz
to request a meeting to discuss our Johnny Costa
project with them.
* Pat Condelli designed a well-organized Johnny Costa tri-fold
brochure to pass out with our display to ask for
community support.
* We discussed “names” for the Center and decided that Cultural
Community Center and Center for the Performing
Arts were too wordy. We liked the name Johnny Costa Cultural Center. The members
present voted unanimously
for this name. We will now present it to John Mandak and hope we can settle
on a name everyone agrees upon.
* Next Music Monday is Monday, February 28 (Feb. 21-NO SCHOOL).
We hope everyone can come so
we can expedite this project.
